Giorno III: Baba O’ Riley – The Who
Il titolo è totalmente scollegato dal testo: il nome Baba O’ Riley è un omaggio che Townshend fece ai due suoi maestri: Meher Baba (1894-1969), quello spirituale, e Terry Riley (classe 1935, vivente), compositore minimalista americano.
La storia narrata dai The Who parla di un ragazzo cresciuto nei campi (out here in the fields), che non ha mai dovuto combattere per dimostrare qualcosa, per farsi sentire, per farsi perdonare.
Scappa con Sally, una ragazza come lui, in quest’esodo (the exodus is here) che raggiungerà gli happy ones, quelli felici, la felicità.
Il mondo di Townshend è post-apocalittico e i ragazzi sono gli unici esseri viventi rimasti.
Disco da ascoltare tutto d’un fiato, musicalmente è un viaggio. L’intro con gli organi e l’attacco di batteria sono già leggenda.
